A simple, classic Christmas tablescape

A simple, classic Christmas tablescape

Posted by Lyndsey Zorich on

I'm officially adding "tablescap-er" to my list of random hobbies. I love putting together tables for any occasion, but I especially enjoy the process during the holidays. There's something so magical about candlelit dinners at our "big kids" table in our home. I love setting the tone with special touches like handwritten place cards and thoughtful decorative accents.

Today, I'm excited to share my dining table from last year at Christmastime. Christmas china was one of the very first things I registered for when I got engaged. Though most prioritize everyday pots and pans before china that only gets used one month a year, my biggest concern was having enough nutcracker plates for entertaining during the holidays. I wanted to make our plates the star of the table, so I kept the linens simple. My fellow talented "tablescap-er" and friend Meg Lonergan came up with the genius idea to tie our napkins into darling Christmas bows and adorn them with a bell. Hello Pinterest passion project! I really don't know if it gets more festive than a bow-tied napkin with a jingle bell napkin ring! See a similar napkin ring here.

I am all about mixing metals on my tables, like mercury glass candles interspersed with crystal glassware and my Christmas colored china atop gold chargers. Paper whites are such a classic holiday flower, so I arranged small containers spanning the center of the table and another fuller bunch on my sideboard in a vintage planter.

Writing this post leaves me longing for another meal in the formal dining room at our old home. I truly adore our new house, but there are so many beautiful memories from around this table that I'll cherish for a lifetime. With that, I can't wait to see what this year has is store. Stay tuned for a look at this year's table in our new home later this week! 'Til then, please eat, drink and be merry!
