Thanksgiving is right around the corner so today I wanted to share some tablescape inspiration with y'all! I'm hosting our family Thanksgiving this year, including family houseguests in town from California, so it will be a full house! A holiday hosting rookie, I've had no hand in big tasks like the Thanksgiving turkey, gravy and other big ticket menu items over the years and am usually tasked with getting ice and well, that's about it.
The cooking has me slightly panicked, so I decided to plan out my tablescape in advance. At least we'll have a pretty table even if the food is inedible. Ha! I keep playing the scene from Christmas Vacation in my head where Uncle Eddie says "Clark, if this turkey tastes as good as it looks, we'll be in for a real treat!" Seconds later Clark cuts into a totally dried out turkey. So for now, my game plan is this pretty table!
My vision for this table was always to keep it very traditional and clean with vintage touches. I collected vintage amber glass candleholders on Etsy in different shapes and sizes to span the entire length of the table. To keep floral costs low, I used fresh magnolia branches and leaves from my back yard. I added in fresh ivory garden roses to contrast the greens and browns of the branches.
The color palette direction started with this placemat by Deborah Rhodes. I love its earthly vibe and texture. Hues of rust, dark green, and gold would create the perfect harvest feel. How pretty are these custom monogrammed linens from Blue Bamboo Embroidery? I worked closes with them to create the most beautiful custom monogram that truly pops on this table.
Keeping with the organic feel of the tablescape, I had Meg Grant create placards on pears; as much as I tend to think pumpkin during this holiday, it was nice to switch things up with something a little more unexpected. I wanted to get the girls involved with my table, so asked them to help me think of words that describe Thanksgiving which Meg then hand wrote onto some of the magnolia leaves!
Meet Thomas E. Felton III, the gold metallic turkey I snagged while vintage shopping in Round Top, Texas earlier this year. We're happy for him to celebrate his first Thanksgiving with our family for our first Thanksgiving in our new home!
