the blogger who had no clothes and what to wear to the White House

There are more occasions than not that I tend to be "the blogger how had no outfit." True story, before I began blogging I would live for occasions to dress for. Whether it be a party, a special vacation, or a holiday, I loved having a good reason to find the perfect outfit. Now that my job revolves around clothes I actually tend to neglect shopping like I had in the past! Kind of like the chef who never wants to cook at home or the handyman with a house full of things needing fixed, I find myself neglecting shopping for non-business purposes. Of course there are exceptions and a White House visit is one of them!

Before heading to DC last month, I put some serious effort into what the girls and I would wear when we toured the White House. I went to Tootsies on a mission for a patriotic chic getup. No joke, I wanted to find red, white and blue but not look like I was trying too hard. I guess that means the red and white stripe top and star print pants won't make the cut. Ha! I swear the effortless outfits usually take the most effort, right?! This maxi skirt was a splurge but I'm confident I'll wear it a lot. It's such a great fall transition piece. I like the idea of it with a cropped sweater when the temps cool down and will dress it up come holiday time too.
