Carte Blanche with Dallas' Entertainer Extraordinaire, Kimberly Whitman

Carte Blanche with Dallas' Entertainer Extraordinaire, Kimberly Whitman

Posted by Lyndsey Zorich on

When Kimberly Whitman extends an invitation to a party of any kind, the answer is absolutely.

We love tapping fellow Texas lifestyle experts to show us how they play host, so we visited Kimberly down the road from us in Dallas and are thrilled to showcase her as our holiday Carte Blanche tastemaker.

A veteran of the event industry and editor at large for Southern Living, Kimberly knows the ins and outs of setting a stylish table no matter the party size.

For this feature, she opted for a ladies' winter luncheon, and to nobody's surprise, it's gorgeous and sure to bring good tidings to all the lucky guests. She can make just about any space entertaining-worthy, and this banquette in her living room had all the right bones and colors to make for a cozy afternoon affair.

See more of the relaxed charm and stunning details in this space and the rest of Whitman's family home from her feature in last month's Veranda. It's a can't miss story for all decor enthusiasts.

Kimberly likes to let one piéce de resistance dictate the rest of the setting, and in this case, it was our exclusive twist tumblers in a rich brown accented in pops of turquoise and coral.

She played up these colors with her tablecloth and our pheasant feathers placemats, perfect for family weeknight dinners and more elevated occasions alike.

A simple plate was the natural choice, but the partial scalloped edge echos the unique geometry of the glass.

She grabbed these to-die-for plates from her china cupboard, which is an absolute treasure trove from her years collecting tabletop items from travels, parties and her styling career. We couldn't help but style them with our gold trim linens from Loulou La Dune, which you can order directly from us by emailing orders@onlyontheavenue.com

A fluffy and frayed grey napkin rests atop the plate, and a vintage rope bow napkin ring added the feminine finishing touch that felt necessary for the occasion's theme.

Persimmons, figs and chocolate truffles felt like seasonal (and irresistible) accents to tie everything together alongside the gorgeous centerpiece designed by Fleurt, a local favorite florist.

{Kim's satin dress is available to shop here as are her caviar blini stud earrings.}

As we do with all our Carte Blanche tastemakers, we dove a little deeper to find out more on what Kimberly's currently coveting, who she's following and her happy place.

Another nod to our second Carte Blanche contributor, Natalie Steen, of @thenatnote!

If you're craving more party prowess this time of year, Kimberly's book, Parties Around a Punch Bowl, is the perfect gift to plow through pages of picturesque inspiration.

Kim's remarkable knack for making celebrations feel thoughtful down to every last stunning detail is met with her kind and graceful nature.

Be sure to visit Kimberly's blog for endless entertaining and holiday shopping, decorating and interiors inspiration. We're tickled she tag-teamed with us and hope, at the very least, you've been bitten by the holiday party bug. Kimberly confessed that setting a table is a lot like getting dressed, so deck your dining table in her best frock for December. She deserves it and so does your company.
